Le Faitout. When I first heard that Berlou, the tiny village nestled in the valley below where I spent many “wild” summers as a child, had become a dining destination, I had to see it.  In his contemporary restaurant in a pastoral setting at the edge of the diminutive place du village, Frederic Revilla delivers a personal cuisine and intriguing rustic combinations of flavors inspired by local seasonal produce. Place du Pont. 34360 Berlou. (0) 467 24 16 99 http://www.lefaitout.net/

Le Chameau Ivre. Beziers' premier wine bar and, with a list of 3500 wine references, possibly the best in the region.  A warm and cozy atmosphere paired with a shady terrace on one of the town's main square makes the sophisticated hang out to must. Well prepared tapas and main courses based on local produce for dinner and a great deal at  lunch that includes appetizer, main course, dessert, coffee and a glass of wine for 17.50€.                 15 place Jean Jaures. 34500 Beziers. 04 67 80 20 20. https://www.facebook.com/Le-Chameau-Ivre
